I love John Ed Bradley's writing and this book is a perfect example of his skill at taking My Juliet book out of wherever you are and in to another time and place.

The place for "My Juliet" is the French Quarter in New Orleans, a place that I love, pre-Katrina when the charm was interwoven with a considerable amount of dark, dangerous, dysfunctional stuff/5.

“ My Juliet lives up to the shining promise of My Juliet book brilliant first novel Tupelo Nights. [It] is a dazzling virtuoso performance.” --Harry Crews, author of A Feast of Snakes “A tale as torrid and enticingly dangerous as the back alleys of New Orleans.”/5(6).

My Juliet: A Novel Kindle Edition by John Ed Bradley (Author)/5(6). Twisted, gothically atmospheric, and replete with surprise, My Juliet is a deliciously dark and mordantly funny tale. PUBLISHERS WEEKLY No New Orleans story is complete without murder, sex and family secrets, and Bradley (Tupelo Nights) amply supplies all three in this moody, sadly comic novel, his first in six years.

About My Juliet. In his most enthralling novel since the acclaimed Tupelo Nights, John Ed Bradley tells a scorching story of sex and death in sultry New Orleans.

After years as an “actress” in California, Juliet Beauvais is drawn back to town with the promise of a big inheritance. Book Review: 'My Juliet' By Rhonda Johnson Updated Aug at AM EDT.

Juliet was my book club's selection for the month of March, and although I was unable to attend this month's discussion, I have lots to say about it. First off, this book is grossly over-written.

It send that, for the first 75 pages, every sentence contained at least one metaphor, simile, personification or Cited by: 1. My Juliet (–) was an American Thoroughbred champion racehorse who defeated both male and female competitors when earning the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Sprint Horse in She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in   Juliet, an ambitious, utterly engaging historical novel on the scale of The Thirteenth Tale and The Birth of Venus, follows a young woman who discovers that her family’s origins reach all the way back to literature’s greatest star-crossed lovers.

Twenty-five-year-old Julie Jacobs is heartbroken over the death of her beloved aunt Rose/5. A brief prologue in the form of a sonnet tells us that we’re about to spend two hours watching a “star-crossed” love story that ends in death, but also reconciliation between the two conflicting houses to which the lovers belonged.

"My Juliet" by John Ed Bradley is a departure for me. It's not really a book that I would be drawn too, but I was so wrong. It was dramatic, emotional, harsh, and crafty. I was fascinated by this tale of two people who are wildly drawn to each other. Their love is dangerous and not healthy/5(4).

The identity of Miss Marcelle’s killer isn’t much of a surprise, and the explanation for Juliet’s bizarre behavior is both a little too neat and much too conventionally Freudian. Still, My Juliet has energy, and its fair share of hangdog southern gothic-comic : John Ed Bradley.

Fortunately for Juliet, Sonny LaMott has been carrying a torch for her all these years, and he’s easily lured into a scheme that’s sure to get Juliet what she deserves. Twisted, gothically atmospheric, and replete with surprise, My Juliet is a deliciously dark and mordantly funny : Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group.

5Lifts me above the ground with cheerful thoughts. I dreamt my lady came and found me dead— Strange dream, that gives a dead man leave to think— And breathed such life with kisses in my lips That I revived and was an emperor. If I can trust my dreams, then some joyful news is coming soon.
